Valentine's day is terrific!

Yeah yeah yeah, you're not dreaming, I'm writing in English today. As some of my local friends are not so keen on learning French (bouh! baaad!), I guess I have to make an effort. Those of you who were not hibernating during the last 2 months know that yesterday was Valentine's Day. I usually hate this event because I don't have anyone to celebrate it with, I'm just doing my old geezer and stay at home.

This year was different. First, because I almost had a Valentine. Technically, I was even able to find a girl that said: "yes, ok, sure, no prob', take your hand off right now or I kill you". Much better than last few years! Ok, she is around 4600km from here, but that's already something...
Second, I decided to celebrate an old Bulgarian tradition for 14 February, consisting in drinking Wine until you're dead drunk. Well, we had the softer version, where you just have a few drinks with friends at Indochine near the Singapore River, laying down in a couch and listening to a jazz band.
But the really really horrible thing about having Valentine's Day in Singapore appeared to me on my way between work and my entertaining place for that night. There are around 4.5 million people in Singapore. Lets say, it's about 1 million couples. Out of these 1 million, probably 990,000 were out yesterday, 980,000 had dinner and drinks in town centre, 950,000 guys had to buy a S$300-bouquet, chocolates and/or jewellery to 950,000 girls who had to look better than ever (hell, that was the only real good news of the night!) and 900,000 had to sit on the steps near the river at Clarke Quay. If they didn't, I think they would have been fined, put in jailed, expelled out of Singapore and sentenced to death. Yep, everything at the same time...
Honestly, does it sound good to you to be in a row of couples, queuing to get your table at the restaurant, queuing to get seats in a bar, going where every other couple is going? Valentine's Day is supposed to be something romantic for each couple; what I could feel yesterday was more like it's the night you have to show everyone else that you have a boyfriend/girlfriend/both... I'm afraid I have to say to any girl that might be interested in having Valentine's Day with me (I'm hopelessly optimistic, I know) that it's probably going to be slightly different: let's say a home-cooked dinner (yeah, I'm romantic) and butt sex (yeah, I'm romantic)...
Some people might say "it's the same everywhere! Valentine's Day is just a commercial thing!" or "Singapore is like that for everything, same as usual in the end..." I will answer two things:
- "How dare you interrupt me in my post, on my blog! Just go away, you bitchy bitch!"
- "That's right, but it was even more accurate than usual and than everywhere else last night"

"butt sex" ? really ? I second that version of valentine's day !
Hum, I spent my Valentine's day with my collegues until 10 p.m. and, later, with my Valentine and 3 other secos guys, drinking beers and eating sushis. How this day could have been more romantic? :D
Valentine's day is such a silly masquerade... ;)
Besides Paris is the 'capital of love' every day, why should we do something special february, 14th? lol
By the way, Yeah Yeah Yeahs is a great band: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeah_Y... (Gogo: don't even try to compare them to Mika! It's another dimension. ;p)
L'anglais c'est mal !!! (I adoube english)
La saint Valentin c'est mal !!! (I adoube Valentine's day)
Oui "adouber" marche aussi en anglais.
Yes "to adoubate" works in english too. Isn't it amazing ?
